Bogged down by wedding planning tasks and duties? It’s easy to get
lost in the hubbub of planning and to lose touch with the spark
between you and your soon-to-be spouse. Here are ways to keep the
love alive - even in the middle of the busiest of days.
Read to Each Other - Before bedtime each night
take turns reading love poems to each other. Alternatively, get
hooked on the latest young adult novel series together and take turns
reading the chapters aloud. Snuggle up with a mug of hot cocoa and
enjoy the sound of each other’s voice.
Write to Each Other - When was the last time
you wrote your fiance a love note? Prepare yourself for the task of
writing your wedding vows by letting your sweetie know just how much
he means to you right now - in writing.
Surprise Each Other - Surprise her with
reservations at her favorite restaurant, surprise him with tickets to
see his favorite band or do something as simple as offering an
unexpected foot rub after a long day at work.
Touch Each Other - Snuggle, hug, kiss, and
give each other massages. Touching is a way to reconnect after a
period of stress or conflict. Making a conscious effort to be
physically affectionate with one another will further deepen your bond
and make each other feel loved.
Talk to Each Other - Tell your fiancé how much
he means to you. Take her by surprise and instead of talking wedding
logistics, tell her why you’ve chosen her to be your wife. Or simply
tell each other about your respective days. Although your mate
already knows you love and appreciate them, everyone loves to hear it
out loud.
Listen to Each Other - Let your partner talk
about what’s on his mind without responding or trying to fix his
problems. Practicing the art of listening is a skill you’ll take into
your marriage and will become a valuable tool for the years to come.
Support Each Other - Empathy goes a long way
in a relationship. If your partner is having trouble, imagine
yourself in their shoes and let them know that you can identify with
their struggles. Giving one another validation fosters intimacy.
Compliment Each Other - Let your man know how
attractive he is to you. Tell your lady what an amazing cook she is.
Look for the good in each other and tell each other about it. It’s
easy to see each other’s faults, but make an effort to recognize the
good.
Appreciate Each Other - As simple as it sounds,
saying "thank you" goes a long way in a relationship. Appreciation
and gratitude for one another is revealed in the smallest of gestures, so don’t forget to thank your mate for letting the dog out or
washing the dishes.
Go Away with Each Other - Take some much needed time out and get away for a romantic weekend. Stay at a bed &
breakfast or a cabin in the woods and just enjoy being with each
other - no distractions from caterers, florists or mothers!
