Question:
Dear Nicole,
Do you have any good centerpiece ideas? We want to do something simple and cost effective, yet elegant. We are having an outdoor wedding and reception in the summertime. I appreciate any ideas!
Emily from Vermont
Response:
Dear Emily,
Yes! There are so many cute and creative things you can do for your centerpieces. Having an outdoor wedding gives you a decorative edge since most outdoor venues already provide a gorgeous backdrop. So in your case, less is more! Here are a couple of ideas:
- Fruit & Flower Centerpiece: Using fruit is both economical and elegant. It also cuts down on the use of flowers, which is usually the most expensive centerpiece item.
- Potted Plants/Herbs: Buy clay pots from your local garden store (or thrift store). You can leave them their natural color or spray paint them to match the colors of your wedding. Place an arrangement of potted plants on each table. Allow guests to take home a plant as a wedding favor!
- Votives: Candles are a great way to set the mood and save money. Use them alone or in conjunction with a simple flower arrangement.
- Wild Flower Arrangement: Instead of having a florist arrange your centerpieces, why not go to a local flower farm for an array of in-season wild flowers. Have your friends help you with a simple arrangement for each table. This is a gorgeous yet cost-effective option that is often overlooked!
Good luck to you, Emily! I'm sure your wedding is going to be lovely!
For Better or Worse,
Nicole {Matrimonial Maven}
