Tip #1: Hold the Paper Please!
Bridal showers can be fun, but for some attendees they're also a lot of work! Of course I'm talking about the second and third most important people at the shower-besides the bride. You know the "trash collector" and "ribbon collector/hat maker/or bouquet maker." Seriously, who hasn't been to a bridal shower where one person has the job of taking care of the wrapping paper, while another is in charge of collecting the ribbon and making a hat or a bouquet. "Trashy," as we'll fondly refer to her, is usually seated next to the bride as she opens her gifts, with a big garbage bag ready to accept the next discarded wrapping paper. Trashy is often a service-oriented person, someone who is very proactive. Perhaps a sister, an aunt, or a dear friend. She might even know the family so well that she can find the trash bags all by herself. One thing we know for certain, this gal has been to more than one shower.

Dear Nicole,
My fiancé’s family lives on the East Coast, my family lives in the Midwest, and we live on the West Coast. We are struggling with where to have our wedding—so much so that we are thinking of either eloping or not getting married at all. If we have the wedding near our home, a lot of important family members and friends will not be able to make the trip. Do you have any suggestions for us?

Melissa Reveals the Real Questions to Ask Yourself Before Tying the Knot!
The series of questions Anne and Ethan were required to answer for their pre-marital counseling course were pretty intense, and at mywedding.com we believe that while it's important to keep an eye out for serious issues like those, it' also necessary to consider how to handle the trials and tribulations of day-to-day married life. I have offered my, ahem, expert advice on a few of the key subjects you must consider before your big day.

Warning: Wedding expert exposes her true feelings. (aka: a rant)
Crystal vases, bone china, real silverware--all items you use reguarly, right? My guess: probably not. If you own china it's most likely collecting dust in your attic. My mother-in-law might be the last person I know who uses her china for dinner. Maybe it's a generational thing. As for me, I don't have the time to wonder which dish can or cannot be placed in the dishwasher. My husband and I have one set of dishes that we love and use for all occasions. Simple and easy.

Tip #4--Register at Your Local Co-op!
Just a little joke. But I know what you're thinking: hemp towels, incense holders, and tapestries from India. Believe me, you can have an environmentally friendly gift registry without turning your home into an ashram. Couples today are concerned about their impact on the environment, and like all good capitalist marketplaces, the industry has responded. There are many elegant, yet Earth-loving options. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Remember Michelle & Kevin? They were the lucky winners of our License to Wed contest a few weeks ago. We caught up with them after they returned from Hollywood to get the full scoop on their trip to Tinsel Town. It turns out they had a fabulous time rubbing elbows with celebrities, visiting swanky restaurants, shopping on Rodeo Drive, and relaxing in their Hollywood Suite.

Dear Nicole,
Most of my friends are low on funds and cannot afford to buy a dress, and a plane ticket, rent a hotel room and car, on top of all other expenses that will accrue for our wedding. How can I help lower the cost for my bridesmaids? I am willing to sacrifice tradition in order to have my friends be a part of my big day!

Here are the last two questions Anne and Ethan had to answer in their premarital counseling series. So far they felt the minister was doing a lot more listening than talking, and they wondered whether this uncomfortable silence meant they were going to get a thumbs up or thumbs down for the old hitching ceremony. But it turns out Ethan and Anne faired pretty well in their counseling. The old minister thought these two were a perfect pair! Read about their experience from day one, two, three, and four first if you missed the boat.
