Tip #1--Dress Like a Hippie.
Just Kidding! You don't have to look like a tie-dyed, flower-child from the 60's to abide by the environmental laws of nature--unless that's your dream--then it's all groovy! For the rest of you, here are a few ideas to keep your ceremonial duds congruent with a Green Wedding theme:
- Wear your mother's wedding dress. (or your grandmother's, your sister's, your aunt's, your best friend's, etc) This holds great sentimental value and is a great way to reuse materials!
- Go vintage. Who doesn't love the look of Audrey Hepburn? Classic style that transcends time. There are a ton of vintage gowns that keep you looking glamorous and go easy on Mother Earth.
- Buy a dress made from natural fibers. If you'd rather have a new dress, there are some gorgeous options in organic silk, hemp, or cotton. This way you'll be supporting vendors who use sustainably grown fibers.
- Shop wedding consignment. There are many dresses that were never worn or worn only once. Wedding consignment shops are creeping up all over the place as brides are becoming savvier and less sentimental about their dresses. Confession: I sold my dress to buy a ticket to Thailand!
