Stress, Out! Yoga to Ease Nuptial Tension

Let's face it: besides my modern, metrosexual acupuncturist husband (who also really loves power tools and sports cars, fyi) not many grooms will turn to yoga to cope with wedding stress. If he is interested--ladies, grab onto him tight because you've got what we call in the relationship business a S.N.A.G. (Sensitive New Age Guy). But that's a whole other post.

So, assuming your man would rather grunt at the television to relieve his wedding woes, this post is all about you, bride-to-be, and how you can curb the wedding crazies by learning a few cool yoga tricks.

If you are the one who isn't convinced of yoga's benefits, consider this: yoga has been around for about 7000 years. 7000 YEARS PEOPLE! And its teachings are still going strong. Yoga is definitely not a fad. Besides, it's been proven to decrease stress levels and increase concentration, strength, flexibility, awareness, and balance. I think we all could use a little of this, especially when things get busy. You know, like when you're planning a wedding.

If you are new to yoga, I highly recommend finding a good instructor and attending a beginner's class to get a run-down of the basic poses and breathing cycles. But whether you've been practicing yoga for years or have never stepped onto a mat, I have compiled a short list of poses that will surely help you clear you mind of wedding worries.

Click on each pose to get Yoga Journal's detailed description and photo. I love their site-you'll find all kinds of info about yoga so browse around while you're at it!

Now don’t you feel better? Stay tuned for more de-stressing tips…
